    battery wiring questions

i purchased an older GW which has dual Yamaha HPDI outboards, two start batteries, a house battery, 3 battery switches and a guest charger. The wiring seems a bit messy to me. Does anyone have a wiring diagram that would be well suited for this application?

Just a word of advise if you are charging two batteries with one of the alternators you need an isolater in between so you don't drain both or overcharge one.

Heres is just one example from Yamaha something has to recharge the battery, sounds like you may want to have a mechanic have a look if your worried.

A guy on here helped me out a TREMENDOUS amount!

    JAWZ12

Jimmy really knows his stuff !!
In multiple areas of marine service
And can explain it in understandable terms!!

He took time from his WORK(he in the marine business)
to give me FREE advice!!(i really appreciated that)

    When this guy gives….TAKE NOTES!!

He suggested these ideas to me(and a lot more!)
    1. isolating house/ engine batteries
    2. setting up a three switch system like this http://bluesea.com/category/1/products/8280
    3. installing ACR one of these
    http://bluesea.com/category/2/productline/overview/387
    for each engine

    THANKS AGAIN JIM!!!

I hope this helps…oh yea…there’s diagrams for this stuff in
    West Marines big book

I no longer use a battery isolator. I switched over to a battery integrator. I like it much bettery. No voltage drop.

Tristan that looks like a great product, I have a situation that may require me to install one of those for the extra house battery to keep it fully charged without running the generator, it will pay for itself on short trips with the diesel saved not running the genny.
    Thanks for the heads-up

The integrator solved the voltage drop issuue I have always seen on my helm voltmeter with every battery isolator I've ever had. It works great. I put a voltmeter to each of my batteries with the engine running and I can see the charging process working and my voltmeters are up to where they should be.

    BEP battery switch!!!

the HPDI engines need all the power they can get to start the fuel pumps to fire ... look up BEP battery switches they are simple and it is a very good system that keeps all the batteries in shape without having to flip switches. Boaters world carries them also I believe. Keep it simple!
