    Bass boat on a Budget...

As some of you know I'm currently landlocked in OK and needing a fishing fix in a bad way. Realizing I'm stuck out here for another couple years I've decided to do a little low budget project to hold me over until I can get back to the coast. Step one...find a cheap boat. Boat found (18' Stalker) minus motor...guy wants $1,000 for boat/trailer...he got $500 offer from me which he refused...called me back 2 days later...agree's to the $500. I go over every inch of this boat...no holes, cracks, leaks, transom solid, SS gas tank...this will work. Sand bags are inside because it was a VERY windy (40+ gust) and I had over a two hour drive...trying to keep her on the trailer with a little weight. Let the fun begin...going to try and pull the gas tank out, pumps, wash everything down and see what we got this week. First question...anyone know of a good buffing compond, I want to clean her up real good then decide to touch up or re-paint whole boat. Thanks.

I've always been pleased with the 3M Products. Light oxidization - Use the Cleaner/Wax, Heavier scratches - 3M Compound - Or 3M Imperial, Lighter scratches - 3M Perfect It

You should be able to find those in any auto parts store.

You need a buffer capable of serious rpm - and good quality wool polishing pads.

If the pad loads up, make sure to clean it

If you haven't done much FG polishing, make sure to keep the pad FLAT on the surface of the boat - especially if you are using heavy cutting rubbing compound.

Also - only work a small area at a time.

Congrats on the new ride... Don't seem many Carolina boats with a metalflake finish...

Lol...no doubt, not too many "hot rod blue" Buddy boats out there. Honestly Fred I'm doing this for two reasons...1. I need a fishing fix pretty bad and I've gotten wind of some Striper spots out here. (no chit, stripers in tornado alley) 2. And most important, when I do get home I really want another project boat for off shore and I want to use this lil rig for practice. I'll check into the items you recommend...I'll keep you updated as time permits.

    ***EDIT***
If anyone know's of a 90-150hp outboard please let me know.PM me or e-mail starsnstripers@yahoo.com
