awlgrip nonskid

I need to repaint my nonskid in the cockpit. What is the best method (sanding) the old off? Should I mix the non skid in the awlgrip and then roll it? or sprinkle after rolling?
thanks Craig

Sand it down. Tape it off. Wipe with solvent. Roll paint with nonskid mixed in already.

Test out how much nonskid you want in the paint by adding a little at a time and rolling on a piece of wood or cardboard. Try to mix as much as you need at one time so it stays consistent. Also, have someone help you and keep the paint/nonskid mixture well mixed in the pan as you are applying. Move along quickly and keep a wet edge.

Lastly, if you are doing the decks on the bow make sure your air conditioners are off. Learned the hard way that condensation tends to accumulate on the deck on a hot day.

I've had good luck using Awlgrip nonskid by roller application (premixed). I haven't tried applying it with a shaker. As in the previous thread, my advice is to keep the mixture well stirred so you get an even dispersement. I am very satisfied with both the performance and appearance of the Awlgrip particles.

Not much for advice, but I can definitely vouch for the product. The particles I used were mixed with gelcoat.

sand it down, then solvent wash it...then the deck will need to be primed, use a good quality 2 part primer...i roll the awlgrip, sprinkle the griptex, then roll it a few more times...pull the tape and wait for it to kick...

you don't have to sand it all the way down, just sand it smooth,if it is awlgrip already you won't have to prime,if it is something else, you have to prime with awlquick primer or awlgrip 545 primer.
