    Giant Fan,

The price I have is with a stainless steel stanchion as opposed to the electric version shown on the site, and when compared to a Standard Stidd seat with Stainless base they are substantially less money.

I like the look. They make a double companion seat that looks like the seat on the site.

I also like the open back feature. Seems like it would be cooler on the back.

They do look really nice. The open back would seem to be much cooler.

A stidd is on my wish list but this looks like it could be a nice alternative if it is less expensive.

A friend of mine bought a Stidd a couple of years ago.... really nice but........ I need to hit the lottery.

I am going to take a look at these and see if they make something that will fit my setup.

I did a search but only came up with the Technical Equipment site that shows the President but not the President Sport.

    Where did you find this?

cant comment on the stidd look alike.....but i can tell you that the stidd is worth every penny. we had a very early version of the slimline seat with powdercoated base and ultraleather. the powerdercoating started bubbling after 4 yrs and stidff sent out a brand new base and other powdercoated parts no charge...they stated that they changed the process from the earlier years and were happy to replace the affected parts...

as for comfort? unreal. there is no other seat that compares. i cannot believe that people are still installing teak ladderback chairs on their million dollar boats....dont know stidd prices now but it was the best $3k we spent on the boat...

    I found it here:

    http://www.imtra.com/product/custom_...ir_systems.htm

You can clicc on a seat and then hit the link for the brochure.

    Cool.

Thanks. I'm going to give them a call in the morning and see if they have an option for me and see how much.

When I did my search a lot of boat listings came up with them listed as the helm seat.... I'm sure it's quality considering the boats they are installed on.

The Stidds are awesome but it's always worth taking a look at something else.

Let us know if you get to park your butt in one, I would need to see one live and in action before shelling out that kind of scratch (I have no Idea how much that would be, but I'm sure it's not cheap)...... which I'm sure you would too.

Sorry for derailment.... you were asking the question.

    Thanks for the info.

    Giantfan,

My pleasure to help. To me that's the greatest thing about the web. We can share information and get opinions.

They have a monster of a helm seat at Imtra right now, it can be seen on e-bay. It was a display model. The problem I have with it is it's black but I heard they are letting it go for a song and I’m sure it could be re-covered for a lot less than getting a new one.

Call Phil at Imtra in New Bedford. They have seats that aren't shown on line, for example the double seat that I was looking for to match the presidential sport was not on line but is available.

They are comparable to stidd in cost but I like that Italian styling.

This Besenzoni Free style seat looks like it would be more comfortable than what you're using now. Check out page 2.

I really liked the open back on the one that your looking at.

I also don't like the armrests on the other one.

I will give Phil a call later this morning to see if they can make the Prez sport work for me.

This is a bit premature as I already blew my load this year with new electronics, but it is something that I plan on doing over the winter next year.

The Stidd my buddy bought was around 5K all said and done.... I love running his boat.... without a doubt it is the best seat in the house.

    Thanks for the help.

    Ted
