    Anybody familiar with Prop Speed

I am taking my boat in for a bottom job next week and the guy at the yard sprung a new product on me. For $450.00 he will apply something called Prop Speed to my wheels. What can I expect from this application? I have a 33' boat but am able to keep it in a lift. Will Prop Speed "die" if kept dry for extended periods? Any general info would be much appreciated.

If your keeping it on a lift why would you use the prop speed?

It works great, my buddy uses it.... Don't know about the drying out... but I don't think thats a problem. My buddy coated his a couple of months ago to get ready for the spring.

Along the same lines... why are you painting the bottom if your in a lift?

    Giantfan:
When we fish tournaments, we often leave the boat in the water for a week or so. Additionally the boat was bottom painted at the factory so it is maintenance as well.

    gotcha....

I understand the prop speed is a great product....

There is also another product "Prop coat".... which is a little more user friendly. The prop speed has a small window to apply the finish coat after the primer and the prop coat gives you a little more time.

I put the prop coat on my running gear back in the Fall before the Winter Striper season.
When I get the boat back to N.C. I'll see how it held up. I can still see it on the trim tabs behind the boat.
I am curious to see if it stayed on the wheels and the struts.

My buddy used it all last season and it worked like a champ.... and I must admit, his boat is a bit of a flower pot.

Does any one have any more info on prop speed?

I just talked to a service guy that had applied prop speed to a boat last spring and when they hauled the boat in the fall about a third of the coating was gone. He said the running gear was all clean, but more prop speed would need to be applied. Is this normal wear for this product?
