Middle Finger Any one know....

Does anyone know who the jackass is who did they layout for the aft bilge pump on a 35 contender? I spent 2 hours crammed in the 18" hole in between the fuel tank and the live well replacing the whole mess today. I would really like to kick that guy in the nuts!

Boat builders are all the same. They build them in a way that's most efficient for them to get built. No thought about those that need to fix them later. Contender is a touch cramped indeed. I found an easy way to access it though. Find a great owner who gets you a mate to do it...

The Contenders might be a shade tight there. Try accessing the steering and installing a "Y" to add a second ram. That'll make your but pucker... Still can't hold a candle to Albemarle and their way of using KY Jelly and a pneumatic sledge hammer to seat their engines... Gotta love how they put the oil coolers and lines under the engine and give you 1 7/8" between there and the bed to move 4" parts...

Look at it this way... Its done now... One less thing to do...
PS- I think Flat was on the engineering team!

There is no acess hole. The deck doesn't come off, it may look like it does, but it is fiberglassed to the bulkheads. I though about cutting the seam to pull the deck. I looked everywhere and tried to find a place to cut an acess hole in. You have pull the fish box out and crawl over the fuel tank.(in between the fuel tank and the deck) It is located under the livewell all the way down. You are laying on the fuel tank reaching down to the bilge with about 18" of clearance in between the bottom of the livewell and the fuel tank. My arms are just short of reaching the pump all the way down so I had to use pliers and clamps to grab the thing and get the new one installed. Oh yeah I have a rocket launcher bolted to the deck so with the mounting plate and bolts your back gets really scratched up. Then there is the fuel guage that cuts your chest and stomach as you shimmy past it. Let me tell you it's a real treat! But like Deep said it's done now.

Its called drawing human straws the skinny ones always get picked. I think that is how I ended up there in the 1st place Nothing like generator shutting down in the middle of the night with every last bell and whistle on. Sleeping on the console jump down start up the engines and head from the strainer. Sea's building waves slapping on the transom rolling across the deck where the butterfish flats are placed water rushing across the flats and the floor in to the bilge where I am basically sitting and pouring on top of my head. I smelt real pretty after that one. The better part of it is that I did this twice and after the 2nd time the engines were left to idle the rest of the night and I went back to sleep

Oh yeah they are... Some pretend not to be but they're fibbin...

They all do it the same. Get a bunch of guys to hold important things in a spot then come in and glass all around it. Little engineers sit up at night devising ways to make people cry... They use pneumatic impact wrenches on stuff then surround them with other stuff that only allows hand tools to get in and tryin to bust a few of those bolts loose without shedding some quality hemoglobin ain't gonna happen. They build the bottom part of a boat then cover it with another part then another... Have yet to see a boat where "everything" has easy access...
