anti fouling
What anti fouling is everyone using on their outboard mounting plates around the hydrolics? I would really like to cut down on the scaling and barnicles this year as the boat stays in 6 months at a time. My local guy says alumacoat and I like the idea of it being clear. What are everyones experiences? I really dont want to splurge on prop coat nor should I need to in this area.

I think Admin is going to let me have this space
I have had to sandblast stuff, clean it.., wory about it.., cuss it and drink rum.. lots of rum!
just because of your question! (and the reality that some paint hurts you and eats stuff!!) *like your boat by the way.., or worse off "Someone elses" rig that you took to 'do work on' and what you put on... is eating metal..!
I have been at this a long time and protecting gear that is in the water and brackets has been a long hard road! and has a couple times cost me time and 'new' material..
I now use Interlux Pro, Pacifica Plus , copper free antifouling.. hope this helps you.. prop speed would work but you have to sand and then getting it off some day would be a 'down to the metal sandblasting" issue and plus it would be 'dull orange' anyway.
this stuff has colors and you can thin it .. *3-m green pad scratch and re-coat when needed.. don't paint trim wires heavy! PS: it will not eat the aluminum bracket off the backend of your vessel.. nor the lower unit..

Clean it good, rough it up with 80 grit, 2 coats of Interlux Primacon, and 2 coats of Interlux Trilux. I paint a few every spring with this system, and it works great.

Thanks lyndon. That is what I do on my trim tabs but its near impossible to get into the crevaces of the hydrolics much more than pressure wash and spray paint.

I agree. Do the best you can to clean it up, then use the spray primacon and trilux. It's not perfect, but it works fine.
