Picked up a Polyplanar MRD60 and speakers on ebay (got a great deal). Now, I would like to be able to listen to the radio with out static hopefully. What would be my best bet antenna wise? Thanks for any responses.

They make a wire antenna that is like 6 bucks its made by prosec and shakespeare makes an 8' antenna that you would mount to the top
Also shakespeare makes a band separator. which its function is to use your vhf antenna as a stereo antenna. it gets installed in line of the vhf antenna
The results vary with the wire antenna and the band splitter but its a cheap start
I have part #'s somewhere in my brain, if needed drop me an email and i will get you part #s
Hope this helps
Mary, I did not have good results with the wire antenna in the past, dont need another tall antenna to drop (have a low RR bridge near me) so the splitter looks like a good bet. I will check into it. Is anyone using this, how is the reception while underway?
Thank you!!
Capt. Rick
Would a car antenna work inside the cabin ?
I have installed a bunch of them over the years, its a 50/50 on it. It mostly depends on your local radio stations signal, how far from shore you are. How good your vhf antenna and connections are. If I remember correctly the cost was $18- $30, part # might be sha3845??? I would have to check real quick
car antenna works inside cabin. thats what i have ,dont rust too
