Ritchie Howell/Canyon Runner Announce Purchase of another New 60’ Ritchie Howell & Strictly Jersey Boat Show – Cape May, NJ
There’s been a ton of exciting developments for the Ritchie Howell/Canyon Runner Team over the past couple months that can only be described as amazing - beyond our wildest dreams.
In just the last four month, we’ve started the 60’ Ritchie Howell “Blue Runner” sold to a gentlemen from Manasquan, NJ who pulled the trigger because he spent close to 50 days in the canyon on the 60’ Ritchie Howell “Canyon Runner”; delivered the 42’ Ritchie Howell Express “Reel Estate” (picture below);
delivered the 42’ Ritchie Howell Express “Whadamacallit”; and started another brand new 60’ Ritchie Howell for a gentleman from the Mid-Atlantic (Sistership Picture Below).
This new 60’ Ritchie Howell will be the fastest to date as the owner has chosen to go with CAT C32s. Since the 60’ “Canyon Runner” with CAT C18s tops out at 38 knots with only 1015 hp we expect this new 60’ Ritchie Howell, outfitted the same as the 60’ Canyon Runner, to easily see 45 knots and maybe more!
In the envious position with his business to have significant leisure time on his hands he needed a boat that was going to stand-up to the rigors of his plans to fish multiple days in the Canyons a year. At the same time, he wanted a boat luxurious and spacious enough on the interior to entertain and satisfy his significant other. He didn’t have to look far to find one that could do both.
The newest Ritchie Howell owner is well educated about building cold-molded custom boats as he is a current owner of a much smaller one. So once he decided it was time to move up to a bigger boat going custom was not a decision that needed to be made – just who to build with. Visiting several custom boat builders up and down the coast was not proving fruitful until he met Ritchie Howell. Coming to the Outer Banks to look at another boat, one visit to Ritchie Howell’s shop and one meeting with Ritchie himself was all it took to know that this was the man he was going to build with. As he stated, “I felt a high level of comfort with Ritchie as soon as I met him. Moreover, seeing with my own eyes the professional, efficient, cost effective construction of the 60’ Ritchie Howell “Blue Runner” in the shop at that time made me realize my money was going to be well spent on construction and not on unnecessary overhead charged back to me.”
In addition, knowledge of the fact that the 60’ Ritchie Howell “Canyon Runner” looks as good today as when she first rolled out of the yard was critical in his decision making. In fact, at the 2010 Miami Boat Show, despite over 2000 hours on her with 250 hardcore fishing days in 1.5 years, the 60’ Ritchie Howell “Canyon Runner” was believed by all who saw her to be a brand new boat. Several people had us show them the hour gauge as they wouldn’t believe she was fished that hard and looked that good!
It’s safe to say that only a very small percentage of custom or production sport fishing boats are fished as hard as the 60’ Ritchie Howell “Canyon Runner”. It’s also safe that only a select few other custom boats, would look this good, perform this well, and be better than new as a Ritchie Howell.
And if you don’t believe us please come and check her out for yourself so you can finally put the rumors behind you and see with your own eyes what an expertly built, cold-molded, custom Carolina yacht is all about. This Friday, April 30 to Sunday, May 2 the 60’ Ritchie Howell “Canyon Runner” will be one of the major yachts on display at the Strictly Jersey Boat Show in Cape May, NJ. She’s there for all to see so please come on down, crawl all over her and let us know what you think. As a special interest to some, Simrad will sponsor sea trials on her to test out their new Simrad NSE equipment – email me at adam@canyonrunner.com if you want to sign-up for a sea trial.
