    Another Deck Paint question

    Guys,
I read the other posts regarding paint and application recommendations and was wondering if the advice changes with a textured deck. My cockpit has molded texture and I am worried about getting all of the nooks and crannies clean enough for the paint to stick. You can zoom in on the pictures to see more detail. I am planning on painting the textured deck, engine boxes and under the gunwales. Assuming the paint and or primer I choose can be used throughout, what is the best way to prep the deck? Should I still add sand on the textured surfaces? Thanks for the input!

the steel flex fills in stuff...

makes a great protective coat also and you can't beat it ... I do 1 coat sand and then do a mixed coat and it is not as a pain in the ass to even out

I would scrub the hell out of it with soft scrub. Hit the areas to paint with some light grit paper like 80 or 120, tape off the areas that are not textured now and paint the rest. Blow it all off really good after you rinse it with compressed air and it has dried, to remove any left over residue. Yes I would add some grip tex to the paint on the texture areas.

You can then un tape the smooth areas and come back and paint them with out the grip tex. It will look good but remember if you do a crappy job prepping it, you are wasting your time because it will show, big time.

    Good luck,
    Troy
