I just recently bought a used Chawk 20 ft Center Console.
First trip out this past weekend. When using anchor, found it difficult to set it out and bring it in without scratching the gel coat and getting the anchor rode around the railing to tie off on cleat.
I would like to install a anchor roller off the bow.
Has anyone had any experience doing this? Have never seen a center console with an anchor roller. The bow deck on the boat is quite big and difficult to get up on-reason for considering a anchor roller setup.
Thanks for your input.

IntheBox,
I have the same boat. I love it. The bow rail is cumbersome at times.
Here is what I do.
Lay the anchor out OVER the bow rail. Then bring the rode back under the rail and hitch it off at the bow cleat. When you go to pull the anchor, release it from the cleat and pull in the rode up, when you get the anchor to released, make your way to the side of the boat and pull it up from there. If you go just back from the bow rail, the flair is minimal and you should be able to get the anchor up with no problem.
Using the way I mentioned makes it nice for using an anchor ball in rough water.
How big of a motor do you have on the boat? I have had my c-hawk 200 for 7 years and love it. It is easy to maintain and a good all around boat
Mental Floss:
I have a ocean pro 150. Have had the boat out only one time and love it.
It is very dry-minimal spray. Only use 4 gallons of gas in traveling about 8 miles. My old boat and engine would have sucked down about 12 gallons-an old 1962 johnson 115 hp. That engine blew up so i was able to upgrade to a newer boat.
I think I will still go ahead with anchor roller-I have it from old boat so don't have to buy one, just install it. That way don't have to go into locker for the anchor.
I have a measly 88HP spl and it will take it to 30MPH with 3 people and a full tank.
The boat is nice in head seas, but side too in the fall for stripers and you will wish you had a Cuddy. Other than that, they are rugged boats at a great price.
Let me know how the anchor roller works for you, Maybe I will invest in one as well.
Mental floss-
Roger that. Will take pictures and post of installed anchor roller. Will take a weekend or two.
Had the boat up to 30 knts with 3 people, gear and full tank at about 3/4 throttle-seas were too rough to push it any further!
I am a bit confused about trimming the boat-never had one that I could change the tilt of motor while underway. What is the object and what do you strive for on plane?
In the box
I run my boat with the engine all the way down until I get on plane. Without it, The motor will cavitate.
Once I am on plane, I will trim the motor up which will bring the bow of the boat up, lessen the surface of the boat that is making contact with the water, and increase the speed.
By bringing the bow up, you can skip across the water a little easier.
Put the rode over the rail and then bring it back to the cleat. Get yourself a ring and ball to pull the anhor and you can bring it in over the stern with no muss and no fuss.
