Albemarle 36 - whats it worth in this market?

I am contemplating a big move up in boats and currently own a 2007Albemarle 360xf with pretty much all the options, good electronics and 700 hours. Yachtworld has 7 of these listed ranging from 349k to 419k. I am curious as to any opinions on realistic transaction prices and how much turnover there really is as this will help me decide whether to pursue a trade, become a 2 boat owner for a while, or sit tight.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

If you can afford to float 2 boat payments then send the Albemarle down to Florida. List it with broker and fish the winter sailfish bite. It will at least get you out of that cold New England winter. If you need to dump the boat quickly I would say it could get sold for 299k. I'm not saying that’s what its worth, I'm saying you could get a buyer for that price. What are they offering you for it on a trade? What’s the new boat going to be? There are a lot of guys trying to get out of larger boats that might entertain a trade down to a smaller boat. You might also look at that option. A lot of these guys are sick of the 2k fuel bills they get every time they go to the canyons. Good luck with what every you end up doing.

    teddyp,

Thanks for the thoughts. As great a florida fishing in the winter sounds, kids are already signed up in ski school and that job thing also tends to get in the way of jetting down there to fish. I should have an idea on trades today. I am considering buying a Florida boat and leaving it there for the winter to try the bahamas thing if I do make a move, but I probably would not go through the trouble of running this one down there as it is not enough boat to live on with the family for a week or two.

Theres a glut of boats down here right now... The popular swing has been to the go fast type with tripples and unfortunately our beloved Albies just arent getting a lot of love...

My boat, an older 28 (27 model) has been gathering dust for a couple years now... Pseudo for sale but not a sniff and I really havn't even put an asking price on it. Got 60 wrapped up in it but realisticly right now mid thirties would be tough to get and thats with her being a diesel.

Unless giving her away is on your agenda and you can afford it to keep two, I'd sit tight until things turn back around...

absent a trade, I do not think that you could bank on selling that boat even at $299k within a few months. Too few buyers and tough financing....If you decide to hold 2 boats you better have the wherewithal to do it for at least 12 months and since the economy is likely to get worse in the next 6-12 months, perhaps another 12months beyond that...

if you cannot trade, list it for sale and get it sold before you buy the replacement...

A boat is worth what a potential buyer is willing to pay for it. No more, no less.
