    airmar b 164 transducer

anyone have any comments about the 164 with a dsm250?

I have been told to get the 264 but that is stricly a 200hz ducer and would require a switch unit and a second 50hz. not looking to spend that much jack...

the 164 sounds like a quality unit? most of the fishing is trolling in blue water with a little bit of bottom drop.

    Thanks...

    I have the big one

I dont know the model # off hand, but I just removed one from a boat where the owner tried to remove it to install on his new boat. He hacked up the fairing block so that is shot, and he bought a new one for the other boat. Its the huge transducer...dual freq. for your unit. email me at tunaman5@comcast.net

I have that exact setup on my 25 Parker. The 164 is a tilted element thru hull which I run from my Raymarine 250 very good readings exept when you travel in very shallow water 2-3 feet it goes a little nuts and will automatically reset once you get in deeper water.... Good luck.

I have this same transducer on my 23' CC and it feeds intel. to my Furuno 600L,,, unbelievable detail... and even better when using the bottom lock. I've used it in waters as deep as 500' and still she rocks! Like stated before, in waters 5' or less she goes crazy,, but I don't mind this at all..... Great transducer, just hook it up to a nice sonar and you'll be 110% happy with it...
