    Aftermarket 671TIB Heads

Does anyone know about aftermarket heads for a 671 TIB? I found a few for sale but wasn’t sure how they held up… the pricing is really good.

    Hobie-

I know I'm a bit conservative and old school when it comes to things like this, but IMO, I would rather spend the few extra bucks and get an OEM head, even if a rebuild, rather than go with some of the aftermarket ones. The head in particular since it's extremely critical and if it's not right, then you will be revisiting this project again real soon.

The way I look at it, the labor (or even my time if I'm doing it myself) is usually worth more than the parts and if the job has to be re-done, then all the labor has been lost. Of course, there are issues with some OEM rebuilt parts as well, but I try stack the odds in my favor whenever I can.

    ....just my 0.02.....

I have not found an aftermarket head that has J6 valves which are required for injectors larger than N90.
The aftermarket parts seem to do fine in lower horsepower industrial and automotive applications.
On the high performance marine applications we have not been entirely satisfied.
Aftermarket injectors on the otherhand have been my preference for mechanical Detroits.

    Elite-

Who's injectors do you like the best? I've had good luck with the Reliabilt "P" injectors....but they're over 2X the cost of the standard ones. I run 7035P's in my 1989 J&T 671-TI.

Either Reliabilt "H" series or Interstate high performance with all new internal parts. Normally close to $200 a piece either way.
Interstate and FP aftermarket cylinder kits seem to do ok as well.
