    AC BOAT SHOW

we are looking into buying a new boat for the 06 season, probably around a 32' open or convertable with diesels. i was thinking about trying to make a deal at the boat show as i have heard in the past that you can get a great deal on a demo boat that they have there. also, we are trying to spend $200,000 or less. do you guys have any recomendations on what brand of boats we should look at and which ones we should stay away from? and would we be better off buying a better quality boat that is a few years old? i really havent seen too many boats in the size range with diesels except for a pro line 33 express. anyone have any input on this particular boat? my brother seems to think that they he heard that they had problems but cant remember what or from where he heard.
    thanks guys.

I'm afraid that finding an 32 footer with diesels for $200K is going to be like the search for the holy grail. With that kind of budget you'll be much better off concentrating on used boats that have an established reputation. Pro line is a low end of line boat. Nothing wrong with them, but they won't stand up to a beating. Go look at Bertrams, Blackwatch, Blackfins. Stay with the express models instead of the convertibles, they'll be a little cheaper.

good advice mako mike....in the marine industry, you only get what you pay for....try to take a sea trial on anything you purchase...this will give you a good idead in how the boat will perform in the ocean.
try to avoid believing what you read in a boating magizine review..."in 10' seas the boat still maintained 25kts cruising speed with no pounding, and not even a drop of spray on the enclosure..." these reviews are often paid for by the manufacture.
don't overlook the up keep factor on the boat and it's equipment including the power...

Damn good advice!!! Too many people fall for the hype instead of doing thier homework. Look into a solid used boat in the size range you're wanting and 200k should be enough.

I have a 32 MIrage with twin Volvo Penta i/o Diesels. The boat is absolutely phenominal. On a 60 mile canyon trip and trolling all day I will burn close to 65 gallons. I cruise at 29-32 knots and on the pins get about 35-36 knots. I would highly reccommend this boat to anyone looking for a boat in that range with twin deisels. check em out- mirage-mfg.com. BTW - it comes in under $200,000 brand new

    look at these boat options

Take a look at the 28' Henriques. It may be smaller then what you want, but $ for $ it is the best boat in the class you are looking for. See Andy at Integrity Marine in Margate. They should have a 28 at the show.
If you want a 32' no matter what. look at the 32 Albemarle Convertable or Express. I fish very frequently on the Conv. Though it isnt available new, there are some on the market used. The Express is still available new, but I think it is higher priced then your budget.

Stay away from the pro-line. You will not be happy.

Good luck and best wishes on your search.
