About dam time

Just received word, the hostage situation surrounding our boat seems to have come to an end We dropped our 74 25' blackfin off in March....March dam it to be re gel-coated and painted, a little teak work, new boot stripe and bottom paint.Since it was this guys slow time he figured we would have the boat back say early to mid june. Since she was gonna be laid up for a bit, we yanked the 454 mercruiser out to address the oil leak that only seems to appear when under power....can idle all day at the slip and not a drop, any way dropped that off at avalon point marina ...the cause....a poc marked oil pan, now this ***** is cast aluminum and they dont make em anymore ( of course) but we miraculously found one on e-bay that looked like it was in better shape so we dropped it off, they bench tested it and its been sitting there ever since. I have to say avalon point are good sports, not once did they hound us to get the motor out of there ....considering its been sitting there for 4 months. The fun begins this weekend, we have it down to about 4 hours to get the motor back in, been there done that ...i think this is the 4th time we pulled the motor ourselves, use to do it with the backhoe, since we put the hard top on over the center console it got a little tight....but avalon point has a boom and a lift for us to use, and it makes those 3" of clearance we have a little easier.Its been a long dry summer not having her in the slip, my uncle who owns the boat has seriously been going through offshore withdraw....as is his crew! If all goes well, we will get her powered back up over the weekend....the boys need a work detail weekend away from the women anyway......and it will be time to get it wet again, a few shake down runs and hopefully some blood on the decks....Pics to follow soon. The first 2 are before she sunk in the slip, the 3rd is afrter the hard top...whackin up tuna quarters after an overnighter...just shows the hard top...more to come of the motor install.
