Lee,
when you put in the cutlass bearing you leave at least two inches sticking out ahead of the strut. In our case, we could only find an eight inch bearing and the strut was eight inches so we took two five inch shots and pressed them in. You then take and split the tube in half two inches and then cut half of it off where it goes over the bearing itself. All you do is take some fiberglass tape and make a couple of wraps around the half you cut off, that way when you need to change bearings all you do is cut or grind off the tape and take off the half you cut and pull the tube off.
On the forward end you drill and tap the tube and put a set screw in it to hold the bearing in place and just remove those when you need to change that one.
Hope you could follow what I was trying to tell you, I'll take some pictures next week and get them up to help illustrate it a little more.
Take care,
Troy
