both with 6-71's, prob need repower. Good and bad about either? Range/repower options/etc. Can either of these be pushed to 28kt cruise or better with new power and still have OK ride? Can you cut the keel off that Hatt to get a few kts?? thanks. tom
I have a 39 Hatteras express. A freind of mine owns a 48 Viking and tells me often that my Hatteras rides better than his Viking.
The keel adds to the ride IMHO. Tracks perfectly in a downsea.
anyone with any experience with the 38'Viking? Seems like maybe a good one to replace the tired 6-71's with some 450cummins? Just wanted some info on the ride of the hull or would you just look for 43'Viking? thanks for info...
you should take a look at my 41 viking. both 671 tib's were just fully rebuilt and are running well. you could replace them but no reason. rigged and ready to offshore fish and i will deliver it where ever it sells. send me a PM.
Either boat can run over 30 Kts with a repower, typically the viking is a faster boat.. I have a customer with a 41 Hatt, that runs just over 30 Kts with 450 Cummins..Pick the one you like best.
The 38 viking is the largest 38 in its class. It is actually a much larger boat than any other 38 on the water. The LOA is 43' 6" and the difference is not just from adding the pulpit.
I have a highly upgraded 1990 (about 1000 hours on 6-71TI) that I am selling. I really love this boat. I don't know how much faster it would be with a repower, but 24 knots is a fast cruise with clean bottom, without full fuel, water and offshore gear. Loaded up is a few kts slower.
I highly recommend this boat. It is very solid, great layout, well made and great lines.
