been busy,making water,shoveling snow,chain sawing fallen trees,fueling generators,stacking firewood...
but...we got a few updates on this rig...
had a small set back-found a little rot in the bow area-repaired as needed, glassed everything all up again-situation solved...
made up a wave wall for the port side, and laminated it into place...
glassed up the transom edges-a little beat up from banging into the dock-made them a little thicker than before-should hold up real well now...
glassed up the transom edge- where it meets the washboard...
check out the pictures...
we're making progress...![]()
Sorry for the dumb question but are you going to cut a window into the wave wall you put up? Are you going to paint her or leave it a black hull? Keep the pics coming she looks great so far.
no such thing as a dumb question-lots of dumb answers
windows in it-look close at the black lines drawn on it...
gonna have a white hull, white top sides and a black bottom, black water line stripe too...
found the original name under the paint on the transom "black beauty"...
Jim,
Totally thrilled M.O.M. is doing well!. Wondering if you are going to keep the same name. Remember the meaning of M.O.M. (mysteries of mithras).. Old pirate term.?.. Gonna be glad to post some pictures of my lifes adventures underwater.! Anyone interested in a documentary film I made of the "Isles of Shoals" feel free to contact me. Its a must have for real fisherman who want to know where there ancestors came from and the place they fished in the early 1600's.!! contact me divecon@juno.com. Larry lobster
I had this magnificient boat for 5 years. The original name was "black beauty". It was all done over by a couple of young 19 & 21 year old daring young men from NH.. After they had worked 3 years on reglassing the boat in went out to sea for a life of lobstah fishing. It was 6 jun 2000 . The young men set out to go fishing for there first day. It was a misty/fog day. They rowed out with there dinghy and upon climbing on board they both fell into the Piscataquoag river that borders the state of NH & Maine, one of the five strongest current in the world. Tragically they drowned. I met the father at the mooring one day to bring him out to the boat to retrieve a memoir buoy with there colors. Upon conversing with the father he told me Black beauty was For Sale. I made and offer and fell in love with the old 68 Novi 4 cylinder lobstah boat. I fished for 3 years and had some incredible experiences. One of the first things I did was change the name. I was told it would be bad luck but I went with my gut feeling and renamed her M.O.M... Upon reading a book about pirates years ago I had read about a ritual. It is somewhat like what men do today?. Drink at the bar and watch sports and tell stories. They would do the same but having no sports they would tell stories of "Mysteries of Mithras".. Immediately I said to myself that someday I would name my boat M.O.M. "mysteries of mithras".. Mithras are stories of the Sun God. When the sun comes out it was a good day to go fishing! M.O.M. became well known up here in Maine & NH. She served me well and am sure she will continue experiencing the Mysteries of the Sea.!.. Enjoy.! Larry Lobster
