Pretty boat, I haven't seen a 37' from him either. What year is it? There is a 44' sportfish in my marina and I think that's the only 44' convertible he ever made as well. Looks just like a 47.

37 Buddy Davis

I do remember he was building 38's. This boat might be considered a 37 because of no bow pulpit. Heard they were underpowered.

jersey cape bought the old davis hulls i believe, the 38 was stretched to 40 and 44 to 45. I fished on both 38 express and 44 express. I liked both but the 38 was very wet, and the 44 very slow, 22-23 knot boat. But all davis as expected. the 38 is pretty boat and with the right power and price you can get alot of years out of it.

I will try to take this one step at a time. Jersey cape bought the davis44 mold and did such a nice job modifying and improving it! It is a 45 jersey cape that wayne put his hard work and Ideas to improve the 44 into a perfect 45!! he modified the bottom so that it is fast with engine HP that is normal for this size boat! Buddy could not do that! The 37ft above was coldmolded I believe in 1984 time frame? He also built a salon 37 yellow hull with 671s around the same time for a friend that I grew up with. around this same time a 39 ft was built with 692s she sunk at the dock at robinsons marina in pt pleasant NJ because the cockpit was about a 1/2 in. above the water level????? Now fast forward to about 1990 and Buddy Davis started building a 38 fiberglass boat from a mold that was very wet and also a little slow. The 44 that he built was a pig! It needed turbines to get that boat on plane? Wayne changed that bottom far far from original. Just like the original 36 jersey devil started as a highly modified 36 jarret bay unfinished, unsold bare hull that needed many modifications from original. Then wayne modified the bow area to make it even drier. He is the man. You cant go wrong with wayne.

hey man, i am not denigrating jersey cape at all just answering the man's question regarding the bb 37. I know that wayne modified those hulls but that wasn't the question. I fished on both the 38 express and the 38 flybridge (boys toy) they loved the boat and fished the sheet out of it. when they bought it is was pig slow, but they repowered it and made it respectable. They loved davis' so much they bought the 48 express and then went back to wayne (jersey cape) and bought the newer version of the 40 flybridge. But again the question is not about wayne, i think if i am right the guy is looking at an older model 38 express bd

Sorry perfectscore If I remember right wasnt boys toy one of the first 38 glass hulls and fished out of del.? Greg venturo sold the boat? That one in the picture did not look like a glass hull? If we find the year out we will know? Yea maybe my eyes are going too? Wasnt the 48 a great sea boat but you needed a rocket engine to get her moving and sucked the fuel down like crazy?
