I think it is funny that it all comes back to this relatively flat water racing with a lot of people. My point is that here is the Northeast, top speeds do not matter very much. I recently fished a small tournament on an average NE canyon day. Several YF 36 and 42s and a 39 Venture all ran to Hydro from MV (100NM+) in average NE conditions, fog on the shoals, leftover 4' swell and light winds. All boats arrived within 5 minutes of each other. I was the only twin powered boat running. This says a lot more to me than some race that took place between people I dont know 1000 miles away.
Luis, it will be very interesting to see if you actually achieve 2mpg real world fishing. This seems like a stretch to me. I do about 1.3-1.6 mpg (not NMPG) at cruise real world with twin Suzukis on a 36.
To me it seem like all of these (Big CC) boats trade in a fairly similar range performance-wise and the differentiation is primarily in the mind of the buyer and depends on how aggressive certain claims are. Lets face it, most of the performance is basic physics and these boats are not very different....

Iguana,
I agree. But I do think I will get very close to 2 mpg at 40 mph. A buddy of mine with a lot more options loaded his boat for tuna fishing in Nassau. He told me at 41 mph he was getting 1.7-1.8 mpg. My boat being lighter due to certain options I didn't get, I believe the 1.8-2.0 mpg can be realistic.
In the NE, I would prefer my Cabo 35.
I'm just saying the race is what it is. Everyone went to be the fastest guy in town, and there was one, very clear winner.
I will post pictures and performace numbers when the boat is delivered and properly broken in.

I know the owner of the Yellowfin in that so called "race". His boat was having fuel starving issues and it had been worked on the night before. Not the first YF to have that issue, ask Billy or Rob Delph about their experience on a YF with trip 275 Verados. They had the old hull #1 36 for a while and fished the FLW kingfish circuit. Fountain advertises their 38CC with trip 275 Verados will go 72mph plus so you could probably add another 3-5mph with the 4th motor. Plus the 38 with trips is over 10000lbs probably closer to 11000lbs with the 4th motor. That Invincible is a nice machine but I don't think Rob made any amazing advancements in hull design creating that boat.
Let's just say they are all f-ing fast and if your next marlin or tuna tells you it only bit because your boat does 80mph burning 100gph in 10ft seas then it must have been worth the investment. Plenty of boats with single motors catch just as many fish. I personally would rather have a 50' something Carolina boat that does 25kts in 5'-7' seas all day long. I prefer my back and legs don't hurt at the end of the day from the pounding ride... just from pulling on big fish.
*update*
Talked with the owner of an Invincible (team AFW) today in Atlantic Beach, NC at the FLW kingfish event. Said the boat will do around 65-68mph WOT, tournament loaded.

I have a neighbor that bought a 36 Fountain sportfish that came with 2 275 verados and he was getting 1.7 mpg. He had the factory install a 3rd motor and his mpg went up to 2.1.
Iguana- you just don't understand. If you run in the bay with a light chop, tail wind, out going tide, no fuel, two light rods and no ice you too could get incredible numbers.
bottom line, with the same power; any difference in the speed between these boats in real conditions (not bay chop) it's going to come down to how good the driver is, how hard he wants to run his boat, how much he trusts his boat and what the boats have on board for load. I have only seen both boats run side by side once with the same power (hogs breath). I think that video speaks to my point. I would bet with the same power and load these boats will run within 1mph maybe 2mph of each other in flat water aswell.
I think I figured it out. Next season I get a slip in Falmouth next to you. I come down the night before, load all my gear on your boat, and run out at 95 kilometers per hour the next morning. I get out to the canyon and drive around with a flag that says "Fastest Boat" flying for a while and then catch up with you to grab all my gear, ice and crew off your boat. Whatcha think?
