Hi, good luck on your search. 35' Viking is a very well built boat, but the cockpit on the FB isn't huge and with a 15 degree deadrise it makes for a rough riding boat, not quite the hardcore fishing machine. Take a look at some Henriques 35's if you get a chance. Drew

Thanks for the reply LUCKYDREW. I will look at the Henriques as well. I heard that the Vikings rode rough in a head sea, but had also heard that they were good on the troll. Thanks again.

    Striper,
We have an '88 35' Viking. Boat runs great with the best of comfort and fishing. Head sea is a bit tough but it works.

As for the cockpit and fishing, its fine. On the troll, shes excellent. And even though the cockpit is on the small side it never hindered us. Plenty of big fish landed and put into that cockpit - 541 Blue Marlin, 454 Thresher, Big Eyes and Yellows up to 200. And all those fish came thru the fish door!! So to us she is a fishing machine as well.

    Good luck.

ChirsLadyE, Thanks for the reply. It sounds like a fishing machine. Those are some impressive numbers and make me want one more now. What engines do you have? What kind of speeds do you cruise at? How many gph do you burn? Sorry for all the questions but I really am trying to find out everything I can before I start bothering salesmen and owners that have them for sale. Thanks again.

3208 Cats, 375 hp, burns about 30-31 gph at 2400rpm cruise at 21-22 knots.

3208's are great motors. They are heavy but I think the weight helps the boat. If I were to replace them, which it doesnt need, I would hope to replace the weight as close as possible but gain more hp. I also put on 4 blade props from S & S propellers which helped me gain a knot and the boat runs better. Weve had our 35 since 94 and have seen plenty of them. If you have any questions, let me know - I also know many of them in the NY/NJ area.

Worked on one as a kid who was hired to perform weekly maintenance and washings. Every week after the owner used it I went around with the screwdriver and epoxy. I can't comment otherwise, but check it out for yourself when you board the boat. See how many screws just turn or fall out. If looking in that catagory, look at the 36' Hatteras, 31 Blackfin which is an excellent all around ocean boat.
