Love the RockSalt. I do not think You will have half the maintenance of a glass boat which in Your case may be a very important factor.

I think that based on the hull shape and dimensions the Rock Salt will run better, faster and with better economy. Not too mention, you will get more respect from other hard core fishermen who will share info.

IMO, the whaler is a 'fur boat'

A working boat is a lot different than a pleasure rig!

It takes a heck of a lot of fish to pay for a boat! (does not matter if you make good $ selling them.) I have been fishing my whole life full time and my boats get scratches, bill marks, gaff scratches, bait boats running into me, my own wife docking by braile, dive tanks, and your everyday wear and tear. you had better find something that can take a beating and still get back up! also has to be people friendly! and always remember you have to hold your mouth right to catch a fish! (ya gotta smile!)

I am curious as to how you fish for restaurants. Don't fish that are sold have to go through the commercial channel to be for sale ? Not trying to bust balls here, I am just trying to learn something.

The Whaler is more of a cruising class boat vs commercial fishing. The RS34 looks sweet, but so far, unproven. If I were looking at it from a commercial stand-point, I'd find a lightly used boat like a Yellowfin 34/36, Contender 33/36, & a long list of others that have the in-deck fish-box volume, deck space for a coffin box/commercial box, and that have already taken the off-the-lot deppreciation.

The first 34 Rocksalt just splashed and is undergoing sea trials right now. It has Twin 350 Yamahas and is ba ba badasss. Its down near Houston, TX where they are built. Hull number one will have a few more weeks of testing (raising engines, lowering engines, different props, etc) then electronics will be piled on, then it will be ready for customer sea trials. I'l be heading to TX in September to get my fix. If any of you folks want to schedule a Sea Trial let me or Jay from Rocksalt know. The 34 Rocksalt is so freakin cool, I can't wait to see it.
