I was looking though my diesel power magizine and came across this. Twin turbo 12 cylinder diesel. thats a big motor!! its 7000LBS and holds 36.5 gallon of oil and 1925HP!!! just thought i'd share.

A little smaller than the 2400hp Mtu's alot of builders are installing.
You are probably talking about the new CAT 32 ACERT, rated at 1925 metric horsepower. The 3512C is a totally different animal, lots of iron for the hp, weighs over 10,000 lbs.
The big question is when is this new Tier 2 engine going to be available??? A prototype is rumored to be running in a Spencer, but where are the Production engines?
Any hull laid up after Jan 1, 2009, MUST have an EPA Tier 2 Engine.
The MTU Product has been Tier 2 for a while now, (it fell into a different category because of its displacment per cylinder rating) and the 16V2000 rated at 2400 brake horsepower is a proven choice.![]()
Last i heard about the c32-a 1925 was they were falling apart on the dino. Glad to see that cat fixed the problems. Are they in any hulls yet?
