grady wont take years of punishment without falling apart the regulator will. owned a grady for 10 yrs fished hard and it sure looks it gel cracks everywhere on the gunnels the hull flexes and pops the screws out of the rubrail all the corners of the hatches are breaking off because they are solid 1 inch thick resin with no cloth or even chopper strands to reinforce , gradys hull needs oversize trimtabs to keep the bow down in heavy seas and still plane off at slow speed. sure looked pretty at the shows though.

Please say you were only exagerating. Please! I will not be responsible for your safety if you do not take my advice! Grady secret police are out there to make this all appear as to have never happened?

trust me,i'm sure the usual guys are beating me to death on another site-they're probably typing how i beat up on them and their gradys...but,we all know the truth, isn't that right gradyfish ???

so...let me give 'em something to talk about...

the number one boat i perform repairs on is a grady, and that's not because there's so many of them sold either.
here's one for you grady lovers, you guys paid a big amount for the boat, right ?? you believe the boat is built better than most of the boats out there, right ??? believe grady uses the best materials, right ??? follows "ABYC" and "CFR" too, right ???
well...lemme give ya some bad news...
first,"ABYC" code clearly states,if a thru hull is at or near the waterline,or below the water line, the thru hull must have a positive shut off-states that, doubt me ??? look it up...check out the cockpit scuppers on any grady made, most are under water,no positive shut offs either ??? at least they changed from using the best quality nylon thru hulls
we got more too..."CFR" states, concerning the installation of a fuel tank, that fuel tank can not support a deck-again,doubt me ??? look it up...grady still continues to support their decks via the fuel tanks, nice huh ??? wow !! what you guys are paying for what were they thinking
let's throw some more in the mix too,ok ???
wire...marine grade wire is tinned, and a very fine strand wire...wire that is a coarse strand copper, not tinned,is standard automotive wire...with that, what do you grady lovers think your grady has in it ??? i'll bet you guys think your grady's are wired using a marine grade tinned wire, right ??? well....wrong again...as usual, doubt me ??? go on out there and cut a wire,a standard grady wire...strip that wire...let me know what you find,i know the answer...pretty funny...i just pointed out 3 huge flaws, big flaws too,and i haven't even talked about that wonderfull grady ride, yet, have i ???
"solid 5'er's@28kts" in a 25 advance ??? yeah right,listen,i'm sure you're a good guy,but,there's not a gw made that will run 28kts in a tight 5' chop...i'm from missori-terrible spelling,i know,so you're gonna have to show me...again,this is what you paid for...i'll bet you're real proud of that purchase now,huh ???

rotting...grady's are famous for rotting, allways were, seems like they're allways gonna be too...the new wide beamed models, these have cored hull sides, been numerous problems with delamination of that balsa core,in the areas of the thru hulls, quite a few of these rigs went back to the factory for repair.grady uses xl greenwood-guaranteed not to rot-that's fine, but guess what ??? it's not guaranteed against "delamination",check out how well grady glasses the wood-wanna see some pictures ?? and these are of very late models too- the wood will last indefinatley,if it's protected, however,if wood is allowed to get wet,it can and will delaminate-wow,so much for that whole "guaranteed never to rot" stuff huh ???

how these boats got a "quality" reputation is absolutley beyond me,there's quite a few mfg's that build a much better product than grady white, regualtor is one of them...

Both of these makes have their issues especially now that REG is getting some years on them but I would take either of those boats just check the Gradys Transom and REGS rear scuppers.Check with Bear 13 mostly over on the Barn he knows every inch of the Regs and definetly do it before buying 1.Good Luck -Pat L

BY THE 3RD YEAR OF OUR NEW GRADY WE HAD REWIRED EVERY CIRCUIT EXCEPT THE NAV LIGHTS. UNDERSIZED AUTO WIRE. THE PHUCKING BOAT WOULD FILL WITH WATER SITTING ON THE TRAILER THE WIRING TO THE BILGE PUMP CORRODED OUT AND WE LAUNCHED HER AND COULDNT GET HER ON PLANE THERE WAS A FOOT OF WATER IN THE BILGE. THIS IS A CENTER CONSOLE DESIGNED TO SHED ALL WATER WHERE DOES IT GET IN ? ALL DECK PLATES REPLACED WITH SCREW IN SO WHERE DOES IT GET IN ON A CENTER CONSOLE. WHEN I BOUGHT THE BOAT TOLD DEALER MY LAST BOAT SCUPPERS WOULD BE UNDER WATER, ASKED FOR A SEA TRIAL HE SAID THEY DONT DO THEM. IF I BACK OUT THEY HAVE A BOAT WITH FUEL IN TANK READY TO EXPLODE WELL FIRST DAY IN WATER GUESS WHAT COMES IN THE SCUPPERS. NO WONDER HE DIDNT WANT A SEA TRIAL. DONT DROP A SINKER ON A GRADY IT WILL CHIP FOR SURE. HULL TO DECK JOINT NO BACKING FOR SCREWS TO BITE INTO LET ALONE SEALANT IN THE JOINT WHY ? SO THE FACTORY CAN GET THEM APART TO FIX THEM EASY. YOU KNOW WHY GRADYS COST SO MUCH MORE THAN COMPARABLE BOATS? EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. GIVE THEM AN EXTRA 25 % FOR THEIR BOAT OVER THE SAME TYPE AND OPEN YOUR MOUTH AND COMPLAIN THEY FIX THINGS NO QUESTIONS ASKED. JUST GIVING YOU SOME OF YOUR OVER SPENT MONEY BACK. IF YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT OUR GRADY YOU WOULD BE BETTER OFF ASKING WHAT DIDNT BREAK OR GO WRONG WITH IT. OH WE WERE HARD CORE FISHERMAN WEATHER BE DAMNED ITS THE WEEKEND WE ARE FISHING. GRADY SAID THATS THE PROBLEM . ASKED THEM WHY DID I BY A HI END BOAT THEN IF I HAD TO PICK OUR DAYS. THAT MADE THEM FIX STUFF. EVERY INCH OF THE GUNNELS WAS SPIDER CRACKED TO THE POINT OF GEL COAT COMING OFF IN DIME SIZE FLAKES IDENTICAL ON BOTH SIDES THEY SAID COLLISION DAMAGE . SURVEYOR AND 2 TOP NOTCH REPAIR YARDS SHOWED ME HOW EVERY WAVE PUSHING ON THE SIDE OF HULL ROLLED THE SIDES INWARD CAUSING THE HULL TO CAP JOINT TO FLEX ALONG WITH NO CLOTH BACKING THE GEL COAT.NO ONE WOULD ATTEMPT REPAIRING THE GUNNEL CRACKS WITHOUT FIXING STRUCTURE ISSUES.
