I also own a GW Marlin 30 - 2004 and have for 4th year now. Admitedly it will pound if not using trim tabs and you don't back down a little. I don't need speed in 3-5 footers with 15-20 knot winds. I need a tough riding tank that's going to get me there safely and my kids safely and GW has been around alot longer than Regulator so that's who I trust. I have no problem docking my GW w/o bow thruster. TAKE YOUR TIME!

Why is everyone one in a hurry? I had a friend that sold his Reg 30 after 2 seasons. It won't plane in a 3-5' sea w/o getting wetter than piss.
Regulator makes an extremely nice looking rig, but I just back down a little and so what if it takes me 30-45 mins extra to get back to the barn. My ass is dry and my neck isn't soar.
If you have kids and i do, the walkaround feature is nice too. It make me feel safer.

Just my 2 cents!

Marlin vs 30 Regulator

Fenderbender,

did you sea trial the regulator yet? I'm interested in a 30+ foot express with outboards. Have not looked at the regulator yet.

There is a 2005 32 regulator with only 38 hrs on it and a 1998 30 Grady Marlin down Cape May Marine. Both are nice.

So true, never knock a GW, not even a little or you will get a ear full from the owners.

Get the regulator, one of the best built production boat manufactures out there, far above the GW in long term quality materials and production.

I have replaces at 20+ GW floors over the years because of the none marine grade plywood they used. As a matter of fact I have seen them use 4"x4" pieces of plywood to make floors, kind of like tiles, I can only think they thought it was a good idea, it was not.

Sorry GW guy, it's OK, if you like it thats all that matter

Its kind of a wierd comparison the 2 boats are very different. I would think you would compare the the 30 cuddy Reg. to the marlin. The rides are very different.

Well, this is pretty irrelevant to the whole topic, but I still want to throw it out there..

Decided to go out in solid sloppy 5'ers on a 25GW Advance. (cc) We were "testing" the limits of the boat and managed to get up to about 28kts. before my dad started hurting haha.

Just throwing the Grady quality out there
