I have a friend with a 30 regulator. The boat rides amazing and will haul ass. With a calm ocean he cruises 36 knots. I have a 28 carolina classic and I would say his regulator rides better than my boat at the same speeds. The cockpit is kind of small but you could have 3 full grown men back there fishing with plenty of room.
One problem he has had is with his hard top though. Regulator used really small screws to hold the hard top on. He has sheared every one of them across the front. Regulator has acknowledged the problem and is suppose to have fixed it on its newer boats. They told him to bring his to the shop and they would fix his as well. other than that it is an amazing boat.

How about a Grady 33 Express? I just listed a 2008 Grady 33 with T-350 HP Yamahas. Check it out here: www.yachtworld.com/southjersey

I used to have a GW 330 Express. I do not know anything about the Reg's (other than they have a good rep), but that Grady was a tank. Took her from Appalach to Tampa in a 20 - 30 kt headwind, we had to slow to about 15 kts for a couple of hours, but she got us home! Six to eight foot steep chop, for five or six hours.

I also loved the fact that everything on a Grady drains overboard, no water accumulating while you are out paying the bills. Always fresh for the next trip. Got to say that the after sale support was really good too, even though I bought the boat used.

I've got to say that the moment I was sold, was hitting that first six footer out of the pass at 27 kts! No big BAM, just a boooosshhh. Then my teeth fell out and my back said bye bye, so I slowed down. If I were the man I once was, I could have saved an hour or two...

Happy Hunting!

No offense taken. Just mentioning a new listing that was within the scope of the thread. Tight lines!

Brian- did you check out the GW 305 Express? I had my eyes on one up at Taylor and there is one over in Pot-Nets and the guy is pretty cool to talk to and will show you his boat.

Folks,
Have fished a 30 Reg several times and in 4-6 on one occasion and had to run about 30 miles in that slop. Also, owned a Marlin 30 with twin Yami 225s bought new. GW had great customer service - quality was above average but the boat's ride was not what it was cracked up to be - pounded hard in rough seas and the snap-roll on the drift was nasty.

Regulator is a better built boat and a better riding boat - get the Reg!
