    30 feet boat - 30+ knots

We received this question from a visitor
    Hello,

I am from Peru, I am starting a sportsfishing company up in the north of Peru in a place called Cabo Blanco.
I am trying to get a good boat but in a good price, I am planning to get a 30 feet boat. But I want it to run in more than 30 knots.
The thing is that I want to buy the engine apart. But I am not sure if that would be a good idea or if you know where can I get a good engine??

Thanks very mucho for the oportunity
I will be waiting for the answer

    Carlos

We have all heard of Cabo Blanco and the world record Black of 1560 lbs that still stands from 1953, I have always dreamed of fishing there. The Cabo Blanco fishing club is still there, probably abandoned , What's the status of the club now? I saw the DVD black marlin boulevard, and they fished pretty close to shore, I'd bet you could get away with a lot of boats, but a 29 Carolina classic or the 31 bert with towers of course would work just fine. Or something very similar

    I am now a member.

Thanks very much for posting my question about a boat and going more than 30 knots.
I want to indroduce myself as a new sportfisher lover, I have been living in the north of Peru and just got the opportunity to find a magical place to live called Cabo Blanco. I met there a lot of local fisherman, and started a very good friendship with a one local fisherman, who has been a scuba fisherman national champion, and he has been getting me involve in the fishing community of the town. So we are joining together and starting a new company.
Little by little I am going to post my pictures, and I am sure you are going to get impress with the variety of the species, I am going to be around the site very often for advices, I hope all you my new friends can help me out.
And yes Alex, we still have a record of that Black Marlin, and I am pretty sure we have at least a couple of more world records, I will let you know.
You are right the Cabo Blanco fishing club has been abandoned for white a bit, but we are going to fight and reopened soon my friend.
I want everybody to have a great option to do what they love, and to know more about Peru.

    Best Regards

    Wadhook,
Who owns the club now? Is it on oil company property?

    Cabo Blanco fishing club

    Alex,
I have been having problems with my internet signal, sorry because I didn`t answer before.

But the story with the club is:
Before, the club was owned by the INternational Petroleum Company (IPC).
But in 1969 the company (IPC) was nacionalized by the military president Velasco, and the club was close.
All the foreigners from IPC, the mayority member of the fishing club, were expelled from Peru.
Then the club was re-opened between 1985 and 1995 by another onwer, but after that, the club has remain close due to a litigation with Petroperu.

The thing is that the military president on that time did a lot dictatorial moves, and really cause a lot of damage to the country that we are paying now.

We just have to wait now what happened with the Fishing Club.
    I will keep you inform

    Best regards

If you really need to achieve 30 knots cruise in a 30 foot boat you are probably going to have to go for a big center console. I cannot think of too many flybridge sportfish in the 30 foot class that can achieve 30kt cruising speed with a fishing load (anglers, fuel, ice, tackle, crew etc). Even with a fast center console hull and powerful engines running at 30kt in rough seas is going to be tough on the boat, anglers and crew - not to mention very expensive. The question you probably should be asking yourself is how essential is it to run at that speed. Is it because the fishing grounds are a long way offshore, or ??? - and just as important what sort of budget you are going to be working with.
