junk...once again...junk...the luhrs boats are cheap to buy, there's a reason for this, cheap materials...these things are built so bad,i would never buy one...terrible ride, terrible everything...steer clear...

dont know about the above persons rant

I got to fish on one this summer in OCMD and I was surprised and impressed wth it, as I too had heard horror stories about the Lures line-up....now this 29' T/E "Binnacle" was a very nice dry riding boat, we never got wet, it raised fish and flat-out surprised alot of us, even Dave Ferrell Sr Editor of Marlin Magazine, who fished wth us in the '08 WMO, was so impressed wth Rick's 29' Lures T/E, he wrote about it in this months Marlin Magazine....

so I'd go and sea-trial it

i have always been told to steer away from them due to the fact that they are a little light and not built very well..

now i have seen them years older and i have been on them and i must say they do ride pretty nice.. dont know about the material or anything else..

but let me say.. and not to make a sales pitch.. but i got a 33 for probably half the price of that one and has the same motors with low hours but is older but in top shape. lol

    come buy it!!!

I would vote for the pace express...

and I do not even know him. Please stay away from that make of boat ... you can do way better. that pace actually would be nice if it's running good and checks out. Jimmy ... a little sugar coating on the top really never gets ya anywhere anyway ya know. gotta serve it hard n fast. problems with those models I found ... back deck , rides way bow high, slams when ya get them up and on top, *drifts nice for swordfish and sails* very hard to even change oil because of space needed to work, square ass towers , engine room air intake needs never met, toilet is all the way up front and can shatter...oh my... things to make you go crazy on an everyday basis are fun...

I've always liked the looks but a friend of mine had one with twin gassers and it always needed something done. The biggest issues were things coming loose, screws falling out, etc.

We have one. Bought new in 1993. Volvo KAMD 43's. 5kw Gen. We have just about 3,000 hrs on her. All systems:electrical, plumbing, running gear, tanks, etc. are original.

We love the design and fishability. Been in every sea imaginable - even some we didnt belong in-and always made it home.

Fuel efficiency is awesome. Run 60, troll all day,run 60 back- 120 gallons. She definately isnt the heaviest layed -up boat.(hence the good economy). And if your lookin to always head out in 3-5's.......I would look at something else heavier. But if you pick your days- and dont beat her to death- she'll hold up fine.

Comin in from the claw (a few weeks back) I was thinking how good the design is. Two guys crashed down stairs in the air (in their OWN berths- which are 6ft and usable because the head's in the forepeak). Two guys crashed upstairs on either side of me (again in their OWN berths). Me drivin from the center helm 24.5 knots and burnin next to nothin

I dont know of another 30 ft boat where 4 guys can sleep in complete comfort-in their own berths (not bean bags and so forth).

I like the ride. She is tender on plane (side to side),but if your crews not runnin around the whole time-really not a problem. Trolls great. Drifts great.I like the high coaming for the kids (and my 70-yr old dad). Anyway hope this helps-any other ?'s feel free to ask.

My neighbor Randy Newcomer (if anyone knows him) told me about the Luhrs quality isnt the best. He said they use cheap stuff which adds up to a rather cheap price. They look really nice though, if they were built like an albemarle or such then i would definitely consider one..

Or just buy a 33' Grady White Express. i took a step on one and my god.. it was like an apartment lol
