29 Diesel Phoenix Refit Project
I have in the past completed a refit of a 38' Ocean SS and a 41 Hatteras, which included motors Gutting interiors and designing a new one. Now i have this little 29' Phoenix 1979 sfx with TAMD 40 Volvos, crappy motors but they will do until i repower with the yanmars. For the winter my projects include the following: 1) Custom Build Hard Top, Skytech Machining Inc. 2) Blast and refinish the bottom 3) Prep & Paint Hull and topsides, I have used Awl Craft Before and am Considering this again unless anyone else has suggestions. Considering the 37' Oceans Blue color or Ice Blue. 4) Remove platform. and install under water lights. Now my dilema is that Unlike the hatteras and the Ocean i cant find the slightest bit of information and specs and drawings/prints of the boat. If there is anyone that has them or can point me in the right direction that would be great. Also anyone that has done any refits on 28 bertrams or the 29 phoenix id love to hear your ideas or advice. thank you guys.. ill get pictures up of her asap. |

That is a great boat. I had a gas version - built like a tank.

Nice boat
That they are, For the money you cant beat the deal and very fuel efficient hull, Orig i wanted a Bertram 28 but over the past few years the demand is high and prices are high as well. Then i came accross the Phoenix's about two years ago and looked all over the Northeast down to Florida, i found this one in cape cod.
I think pretty soon these boats will be like the Bert 28 high in demand and the ones to be customized as well. By the way my boat is almost a spitting image of your old one.. |

Welcome to the site Lobo. I'm sorry I have no answers for your questions, but like a lot of guys here I'm trying to ressurect a neglected older boat and would love to see some pictures of your refits, past and present.
Thanks for contributing and good luck with the project. |

I Will get pics up tonight of the Hatteras we did as well as some of the ocean, i really plan on keeping every one posted on my results and the project. I am very glad to stumble upon this site, it seems like everyone from the plumber joe to the top charter captains have insight and advice for everyone. Its a nice community here where everyone is out to help to make the boating community a better place. Most other forums i see alot of bashing, here i see potential to get some great friends, advice and posibly fishing connections around the US! |

You've found the right place.
That pretty much sums up Sportfishermen.com. I think you're going to fit right in here.
Looking forward to the pics. |

Hmm interesting you guys say this. We've got a good family friend that has a 29 phoenix, him and my old man are putting in down in miami first week of december. Get her running good and we were thinking of putting her in Exumas for the next year. Good idea anyone?
If these are a solid boat should I maybe be thinking about purchasing this boat at a good price? She does have crusaders in her. |

They are built like a tank. Mine had Crusaders - Unfortunately Raw water cooled so I did have to replace the engines.
But it was a fun and solid boat - the way the flybridge was setup, it was almost as easy to get around as an express. Very easy boat for 2 people to fish. |
