We're doing some similar work on my boat. We have to make new spreaders for the outriggers to replace the broken cast ones. So we bought arms from Lee's and we're engineering new hubs to mount them on. Your Bridgeport is a lot fancier than mine, but we use much better software.

Avenger that hub looks great, the software we use may be dated, but it serves its purpose...lol....plus we were looking at getting into newer software a year or so ago and ruled out. most softwares seem to have many problems with these tempromental Bridgeports...whats that program your running that on? do you have any pics of your Hatt?? post them up on here love to see them... |

My fishing buddy is an applications engineer at Siemens/UGS. He's going to use it as a product demo when we're all done since it's non-proprietary. It's probably a $50,000 software package and we'll actually be making the part on a manual Series I Bridgeport. My CNC is Crank 'N Crank.
But by modeling it in 3D we were able to avoid a lot of Oh $#it! This isn't going to work! I'm definitely onboard with the "Old" software thing. If it serves your purposes then it's just fine. You should see some of the old "stuff" we use here. It does the job and it's paid for. I don't want to hijack your thread for my pics, but there's a couple in some other threads: A little scenery from Kona for those stuck in snow Show your boat CATHOUSES...... These should all be considered "before" pictures. In most cases it already looks better than these pics, but there's still a long way to go. |

how to get 3 more knots out of the hull
I know of a phoenix 29 that has 210 hp cummins i beleive that was refited and the owner basically added a 1 foot long permanentfiberglass trim tab to the hull and he got an extra 3 knots without changing the pitch of the props which he had to go cuz he also got about 200 extra rpm on the top end

Nice work on those vents. They're going to look really good once it's painted.
I have two questions: Did you go with a tapered shape for aesthetics, or were there engineering reasons too? Also, did you make an internal box to keep water out, or is there something in the way Phoenix built the hull that serves that function? Re: Snow. Spring can't come fast enough for me either.

Some friends told me about your project, I've got a 1986 that I picked up in 04. Been on the same road as you, engines, tanks, trans, and complet rewire in 07. I went with Crusader 5.7 EFI great engines, milage is as good as diesel at half the cost. Stripped the bottom new barrier coat in 08. Working on the cabin now. She a great boat handles roagh water like a charm. Good luck
