28 albe or 31 contender cuddy, wich would u choose
the 28 seems like a great weekend fisher and also looks very comfy
the up keep might be a little more on this one tho the 31 has a bit of space up front, dont know how big but maybe just plenty to take a nap. it also looks like it could take u to that favorite spot and back much faster, in case u cant afford to stay out there all weekend. (just assuming ) |

My opinion
I think you'll find that you will only use the cabin on these boats at the dock and for the head/storage when out. Speed is certainly a factor but if the Albe has a cruise of 24kts + it's not that big of a factor. You'll probably find the Albe a lot more comfortable for a long day of fishing. If you fish hard core this isn't a big factor but if you have spouses and guests that aren't dedicated they will likley be happier on the Albe.
Mostly it's style of fishing. If I were planning on fishing from the hook or drift 90% then I'd probably go contender. If off shore trolling is more of the focus than I'd run the Albe. There are big differences between the two so it's a high level comparison. If there's a lady in your life that you intend to keep for a while weigh her opinion heavily because you can make either work. Owning a boat can be a lot easier if you can get her on board...literally Good luck

I spent my hard earned bucks on an albie for several reasons. Better fish raiser. More usable pit. Better runner and troller in rough water... I stay in the cabin for a month at a time no problem... Contender is super sweet though. Also good and much faster ride...

If its inboard gas engines the Albe is going to drink the fuel
If its diesels you will be in good shape. I fish on a 31 contender a lot. Its a very nice boat, lots of storage, very well laid out boat. It will beat you when its rough out though. IMO...they are 2 completely different boats. There is no way to compare the 2. I would not pick either one, but that is just me. Good luck to ya.

They really are all they are cracked up to be. Pure workhorses. The contender is a nice boat, don't get me wrong. I just think the albermarle is a bit more serious with regards to fishing in a variety of conditions. |

Albie.......
It's a very big 28....lotta boat. The Contenders are very sweet also, but if I had the luxury of the choice between the 2, I'd go Albie all the way. Next step above 23 (at some point, who the hell knows) there will be several I'll consider....CC25, CC28, Albie 268, Albie 28. ![]() |

I haven't ridden a 31' Contender yet, will real soon, but I would say that any alby i have ever been in, 24, 27, 28, 31 and 32 - i wouldn't own - EVER.

I am favorable to the open center consoles not the fw cuddy ones. The faster the better. Put on your goggles and go part your hair
