Bought a 1999 Regulator with 2005 yamaha 150s. Boat runs great and motors seem great.
As for the project, we took off the t-top cover to sand down and do some hole filling from misc itmes being attached a removed. There was one too many screws/bolts in it, plus we needed to make room for the radar. Secondly we removed the orginal brass scuppers, removed the transom and deck inspection plates. Regulator used balsa end grain in many areas so every screw in the wood had some water saturation. Warning 4200 and 5200 is not enough for putting screws into balsa. Also there was an after market 50gal livewell/leaning post put in. The unit was sealed from the outside but not on the inside so there was some water hitting the wood were the holes were drilled for the plumbing. Last but not least all the hardware (haws pipes, rod holders, cleats, etc. ) was removed to treat the areas.
THese are all issues that we knew of and we have plans to repair everything and make it right. THe good news is that there is no major damage or cancer that make the deck soft of need replacing. I'll upload some pictures of the progress as we go along.
Every wet spot was scraped out between the glass, holes were drilled much larger. Right now there are lights drying the areas in the heated garage waiting for resin and new batches of gel coat.
For anyone reading never put a screw in balsa end grain wood without coring the area with glass first. All areas were affected whether after market or factory.

The jig for making the transom splashwell hatch was made today as well.
