does anybody know what is the purpose of the 3 holes in the forward sole of the cockpit next to the saloon door
does anybody know what is the purpose of the 3 holes in the forward sole of the cockpit next to the saloon door
thanks alot i figured they were not important because we are on the hard now and removing the teak to replace with nonskid so we are goin to seal up the holes. The main problem with the holes is that they did not stay sealed and they wud leak water on the generator
i wonder if it is possible that i mite hav the 355hp cats and we are also adding some larger trim tabs hopin to get some more speed. tbas are 42 by 12 inch and we are going to mount them drectly on the transom cuz we fiind the boat runs way too bow high with the tabs it has now
you know the 38 ocean was a great boat, she was fuel efficient, good looking, fast....but i noticed in your last post about your keel, we had the same problem....but we opened it up, and used an industrial vac to suck out all the moisture, just make sure if you have some one work on this boat they know what the hell they are doing!
Prime example is our boat,
We had been caught out in a storm in 2003 august, our raymarine GPS was off (new unit to), rain was heavy so we slowed down and ran up on the submerged rocks at idle speed. what happened was we had a small crack on the starboard bow. hauled the boat had this renowned fiberglass guy fix the crack. he put the boat in the water in september 03. boat then gets hauled out in november and the repair had failed. this time we went back to the same guy to give him the opp. to fix his own repair. boats sitting on the hard all the way till may. at the last minute he repairs his repair, ironic. So that summer motors get new turbos injectors belts and everything to get ready to do our offshore runs. our first trip to offshore we stop 35 miles out to fish for shark, have a large blue shar on when we realize the master stateroom floor is flooded with water....she was sinking....long story short we used crash pumps and got the boat back to shore....boat was totaled because the guy didnt do the repair the right way, he used car bondo + fiberglass over bottom paint and shit on the inside of the hull...
So becareful who works on your hull and make sure you inspect every process
shit that sucks but did u find that the ocean ran a bit bow high cuz i got a friend to take sum pix of the boat at cruisin speed and shee seems to plow. u think the tabs will help the boat level out better or will it make the boat plow too much.
btw did the head on ur ocean use salt or freshwater cuz ours uses both and i can see the seawater intake from the ouside but cant find it inside,u wudnt happen to know whrer it is located
Honestly ours ran fine, do you happen to have the extra tank in the bow?? are props good? I know that on our ocean we took out the old tabs from the begining and made new ones at our shop. Thicker gauge stainless, the tabs on the boat seemed to flex to easily and that may be your problem effecting your hydrodynamics. But i cant be sure of this because we made this modification when we bought the boat....when we bought the boat we put it on the hard for a year and began work!
