150 yamahas overheating?

Went to run my twin 150's today, I got flow out of the pee holes right away soon after the flow stopped and then started back on starboard eng. did not come back to port eng. High temp. alarms on both? Starboard flow from pee hole is cool (seems less than 100 degrees) but does not seem to be strong still high temp alarm. These complete pump assys were installed just last year and have less than 80 hrs on them? I pulled the lower unit down on the port eng the inpeller and plate seemed fine ( forgot to see if the impeller was lose on the shaft) hope I can get some help here.

Therms were stuck open on port eng eng still warm! no restriction there, put a hose in therm housing water drained to the lower unit coming out inlet. water pump impeller seems to be attached tighly to shaft. MAYBE THE WATER PUMPS ARE LOSING PRIME DUE TO A LEAK IN THE HOUSING ?

Boat: CONTENDER 36 CUDDY 23 OPEN 36 FISHAROUND
Home Port: EAST COAST
Best Catch: There is always something better!
What year are the motors? How many hours of use? Fresh or Salt?

Also when you say last year was this just before the boat was layed up?

When the impellers were replaced was it due to an over heat or was it maintenance. Was the boat used after the water pumps were replaced?

Is it overheating at idle, low speeds, high speeds, or after an extended period of running?

Occupation: Boat repair
Run it on a hose forcing water through with thermostats out. It should not overheat. Put thermostats in and if it doesn't overheat, run it without forcing water through. If it overheats, check the pump seal and be shure the pump housing discharge tube and the tube to the engine are aligned and sealed.

buddy,

take them to a dealer....right away, lets be honest, when the engine cover came off, what did you even recognize? the outboards today are not like the engine on your 1956 bel air. they need computer,s and knowledge. you can not fix it, i guarantee it. before you blow it up.....take it to a real mechanic. im more clever than most, and i cant even get the cover back on straight after taking it off. you cant fix them on this computer, believe me. they need a mechanic.

F.Y.I I am an ASE Certified Master Technician, throughout my years of being a tech. it has been a common practice for one tech. to consult another and onother to help trouble shoot problems, I will not waste my time describing the thousands of different components for you, Buy the way most more clever people including myself do not have probems taking the covers off or putting them back on! And yes, if there is a job that I am not comfortable with doing, I will let the pros handle it. I have made 100's of thousands of dollars learning to do jobs which I have never done before! It sucks that you are betting against me on my next job, thats like bad luck to me, I really hope I can fix this one myself.
