ASA News
American Striper Association, the Nations largest Striped Bass Tournament Series is moving its 2008 National Tournament to Virginia Beach, Virginia. A new sponsorship agreement with the Virginia Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau ensures the ASA will hold its season ending National Tournament in Virginia Beach on December 13th, 2008 and again in December, 2009. The move to Virginia Beach will provide an exciting opportunity for ASA tournament participants to fish the Chesapeake Bay, which is known as the premier Striped Bass fishery on the East Coast. During this time of year large Striped Bass are consistently caught in Virginia Beach. In January of 2008 a 73 pound Rockfish was caught in Virginia Beach waters. The move will also allow tournament participants to get familiar with the fishery around Virginia Beach preparing them for the 2009 ASA Series kickoff tournament, The Mid-Atlantic Rockfish Shootout held on January 8th, 9th and 10th. The National Tournament Captain’s Meeting and Awards Ceremony host location will be Murphy’s Grand Irish Pub in Virginia Beach. Expected payouts will exceed $100,000 for the tournament and Angler of the Year awards.
