Is that picture your gauge or just a stock photo? B/c it shows half tank. I do notice that when I top off it takes a while to drop from 8bars (full) to 7. The bars seem to come off faster. I basically don't trust my gauge to tell me anything. As soon as I get below a half tank I look to fill up, or add at least another 30-40 gallons (I have a 120gal tank). I was showing 4 bars once though and tried to add 40 gallons only to have it overflow. Like I said...I can't trust it, and like most gas gauges I think it's best to consider it a ballpark reading.

Stock photo. I never use that much fuel up here on the sound. However I will be moving the boat and myself to Wilmington soon. Where I know I will be using more fuel. As I said I always keep the tank topped off. Just an old habit when I ran my old boat on the south shore and would run off shore alot. This boat has a lot more range than my old boat. Also this ethanol thing has me concerned. I am thinking of keeping less fuel in the tank. I would run a lot more efficent because of less weight. What does everyone else do keep the tank full or run it down to a point and keep it half full?

Keeping it full all the time also means that you never have a full tank of new gas. I'm not sure how much of a problem that is, but I like to have new gas if possible, so running down to two bars (quarter tank?), then filling up to half-three quarters full probably makes the most sense. I also add K100-MG

I do agree though...keeping tank +/- half full gives you more efficiency, and still decent range. Then just fill up if you're planning long trip. Obviously helps if you have easy access to fuel.
