XM Satellite Weather & Radio
My company is an authorized dealer for wxworx and I received word last week that there is a boat show special that starts Feb 16, 2006. If you've been considering it, this is the best deal on this hardware I've seen yet... by far
This package will include the WxWorx receiver, marine antenna, DC power cord, USB cable, WxWorx on Water Premium software, an XM Roady, a patch cable, 1 month free of Master Mariner Service, 1 month free of XM Radio Service, and free activation on both receivers. Please note that this package requires the customer to subscribe to the Master Mariner data package, and also requires that activation be completed no later than April 30, 2006. We have a web page setup for the promotion at http://mobiletech.espre.net/Boatshowspecial.html If you're a Sportfishermen.com member with more than 50 posts, we'll donate $50 from your purchase of this package to the Sportfishermen.com Katrina Relief efforts. Please PM me to let me know you made a purchase so we can track donations.

Sterling,
How does the system work offshore. I have not had too much luck with the XM package and marine antenna? Thanks, Shot2Hell |

Surprised to hear you say that. Luck should have nothing to do with it and you should get reception most everywhere if it's installed correctly...especially on a boat. I've been using the portable antenna which is much smaller than the marine antenna. I actually have the antenna just sitting on a screen underneath a hatch window. Even with that I get reception everywhere I've been, which includes the east wall of the canyons (Poor Mans, Baltimore, Wilmington). I also know other off shore users that love it and have talked with people getting reception out to Bermuda. I have the marine antenna and have just not installed it yet but plan to do so in the next few weeks and will be happy to let you know if I see any difference.
Not sure if this helps at all. I would say that if you're having reception issues, out in the open, it may be something in the install...crimped wire, etc. If it's a wxworx system give them a call and let them know. I've got a portable wxworx demo system here that you could borrow for a day or two to see if you run into the same issues. Or if you just want to try the portable antenna I'm happy to let you borrow that to see if it makes any difference.

Sterling, Thanks for the reply. I will first check my wiring and then contact you. It seems when I get 10 or miles off I begin to have issues. I will send you an email. Thanks, Larry
