Transducer for temperature?

Has anyone used a T80 transom mount for temperature only? I lost the temp on my B256 and need to find a way to get temp back. The T80 will connect to the DSM300 with a Y cable according to gemeco. Do you think I am better off with a thru hull?

Thanks,
Tom

Transducer for Temp

Tom, The only real reason to avoid transom mounting is to avoid disturbed water. I don't think that disturbed water is going to show a measurable difference in temperature, so why drill another hole in the hull? Go with transom mount and have an easier installation and readily available access for repairs and replacement.
