Simrad AP 24
I am looking at the Simrad AP24 and was looking for views on this AP. Whaqt are the likes and dis-likes. I understand there are a few different AP's out there...but I was talking to my electronics guy and told him I was intrested in an AP. He said the Simrad AP 24...thanks in advance....

Your electronics guy gave you good advice. If you have outboards get the Virtual Feedback version that doesn't use a rudder reference unit. The AP24 is NMEA2000 compatible so future integration with any other new equipment you get will be a breeze. Likely your current equipmnet is nmea2000 too. Good luck!

IMO Simrad is the best Autopilot company out, they interface well with all brands of GPS/Chartplotters as well as Radar (NEMA), are very easy to tune and have the best reliability.

Ap 24 Awsome
We have the Simrad AP 24 on our 39 Venture with triple 300 Mercury Verado's and love it. I was hesitant when my electronics guy suggested the Simrad over the TR-1. Man am I glad we installed the AP 24. We cruise at 40 knots and it holds straight as an arrow. We run normally 50++ miles and it's dead accurate. If I don't take if off of Nav mode we would hit the C Buoy coming in the inlet. BUY THE AP 24
