I have background/experience in elecronic devices.
In this new family of Lowrance device there is a feature in the sonar power I do not understand :
they claim 32W rms , 250W peak power "equivalent" to 30,000W of analog peak power .

Seems to be that thy completely redesign the power output "concept" ( from analog to "digital" ???? ).

Sorry , maybe my question is too deep into thechnical matter and you are not interested ....

I made the shake down trip yesterday. The new 5x is the sh&&&t. Clear easy to read, switch frequencyies no problem. Marked some what I'll assume were perch in 25' of water. Digital readout along with digital temp readout. Zoom works great. Solid reading up to 23 knots. I need to lower the transducer about 1/8" to get readings at the 30 knot range, according to the book. Colors are good and you can see it in sunlite.

The 5m is also a great unit. Very friendly once you get the hang of it. Good color and land/water separation. Very pleased with both.

Well I have tested the units. They are everything I had hoped for. Very easy to operate & mark everything so much better than the old units. Very bright in sunlight. The Sirius weather is just awsome. Shows the temp & wind speed and direction.Any storms anywhere show clearly on the screen.I have not been in water any deeper than 400ft. But it had not even started to show any sing of weakening.
