Got one, think the 987. It's great under some circumstances, ok in other, and sucks sometimes. The sidescan is great under calm conditions @ low low speed, but needs range adjusting often. Wave action kills the signal. You'll spend days just trying to figure out what you are seeing. It can see fish in the water colum in the dead zone between the bottom and first echo. very usefull. The sounder and plotter are adaquite. Haven't been able to get it to read bottom over 22kts. Your results may vary. good luck

Here's a screenshot of the towers on lake murray. You can see the fish around the towers and where they are concentrated.

To get high speed readings you may have to install a Y cable (AS SIDB Y) and epoxy a transducer in the hull (XP 9 20) of the boat or install a Thru-Hull transducer and that depends on the type of boat that you are running. |

Is there any advantage to having an SI unit up in the bow. I plan on putting one on the console, but will save the money if I can. But if there is an advantage I would like to hear it.
Thanks |

Humminbird Side Imaging
We have quite of few pro's running Side Imaging on the bow. Just think if you are on the bow and you see something on the unit you can cast to it right then and will not pass it.

Humminbird Side Imaging
Here is a image that was took off of the coast. It is a small pod of Tarpon. In this image you are looking off to the right of the boat and only using the right beam on the unit. You can see the school of Tarpon.
