Just wanted to know what transducer do I need to get with this unit. I will not be using it for Radar purposes, and will only be taking the boat max. of 40 miles. I do know I want a duel transducer. I was told that I needed to get something called a GDS22 or 21 for the transducer. Can you please tell me what I need to get?

Thanks,

Dyllan

you'll need a GSD 21 or 22. the gsd 22 is digital(better) so thats what you probably want. The 22 works better with newer units like the 4000 and 5000 series. THe 21 was designed mainly for the 3000 series and smaller units. the gsd 22's are around $500 and the 21 is $200 (Ithink)

Thats a sweet unit you will enjoy it

GSD 22

I looked this up and see what you're talking about. Does this unit need power, or do I just plug the transducer into it and then plug the 22 into my 4200? Sorry for all the questions, as you can already tell, I've never done this and just want to have as many questions answered when I start this project...

I believe you just plug your transducer into it along with your 4208. I'll check on that tomarrow for you.

The GSD 22 Sounder Module requires power. The installation instruction manual can be downloaded from Garmin: http://www8.garmin.com/manuals/GSD22...structions.pdf

We have the GSD21, works great & all... but wish we had spent the extra $ for the GSD22 for even better. Just my 2 cents = go with the 22.
