Garmin 178C
Hey im looking for some help here. I think I narrowed my search for a fishfinder/GPS to the Garmin 178C. Heres my questions. Whats the differences between, single and dual frequency? and internal and external atenna? Im assuming I want a trasnom mount as well. Its going on a 20 foot center console. Also what else do I need to buy with the unit to set it all up? I was thinking about getting the Raymarine Ray54 VHF radio, is that good enough for a small boat? Thanks.

we got the 188c.. just one higher than that one and love it. Dual frequency transducer allows you to choose which one suits your type of fishing. I think 20 k allows us to track the bottom of 30 to 80 fathoms at 8 knots. If you have room.. external antenna. If you don't .. internal. Do some research on mounting location, product reliability, and so on by googling it. It helped me a lot and I still learn a new thing everyday on Fishing electronics.
