Furuno help (1834c)
Radar works fine on its own and so does everything else. We just can't get it to overlay. Everything worked fine last season. Is there something simple that we need to change? Thanks! |

I had the same problem but do not remember how it got fixed. I suggest you call Furuno in Md [ 360-834-9300] Their tech support is the best. They will talk you through the fix.

I had one on my old boat and if I remember it would be off unless you had a heading sensor hooked up, or sensor not turned on in setup.

Capt John & Mark,
It's my boat in question and what you said about the sensor makes me think it came unplugged or turned off somewhere. I noticed yesterday that the the radar's only heading option was Heading Up (HUP) and that it wasn't able to diplay the heading up in the corner. I know where the sensor is and I'll have to check connections. I'm betting we'll have to go through the calibration process once again - Martek did it with me after the boat was delivered in 2005. Last week I read there's a battery backup somewhere that stores data and goes bad after three years... It's that time, but would it only effect radar??? All my other way points settings are good to go. I hate when stuff gets randomly rattled apart... Thx for the help, I'll be getting on the horn with Furuno!!! |

Another thought is the sensor has it's own 12 volt power wire and when they hooked it up maybe they pulled the power from something close to sensor not related to 1834 display.maybe somthing you haven't turned on yet this year or haven't operated and noticed didn't work also, or blown fuse to sensor. You never know where these installers hook up power wires.
