I can't tell you what to get, but I can tell you what not to get based on experience....raymarine.
TR1 and Simrad seem to get the thumbs up from most. |

TR-1 is what we have on a 26 regulator, and it works great, downside is motor is noisey when boat is at idle.

i like Simrad 1st, but it is hard to beat the TR1 for a smaller (less than 35') boat with outboards
as said above, avoid raymarine - had one years ago, it sucked!! Know several friends who have/had them and they are not fans either |

garmin, which has preaty much redesigned the TR-1, has a better brand new pump, which is so quiet, I have to put my ear up to it to see if its working. Plus with the new color sreens and new features, hands down the best autopilot.

I would probably trust Garmin, based on the quality of their other products. Now for the big question, whats the cost difference between the three.

I've got Simrad on my current boat - it has been great. I installed a TR-1 on the previous boat by myself - it worked great as well...
The folks I know with Raytheon never trusted them... |

I have a Simrad AP11 that has been bulletproof for four years. Current model is AP16, which I think would be the best one now for you to consider.
