Question Air in Air-con system

I think this is i common problem, in big seas the air-con unit gets an air-lock at the 3 way manifold after the sea water pump, then trips out the compressor.
The seacock is well under the boat (43ft Tiara) i have fitted a check valve to stop any surging, is there some kind of air relief valve i can fit or do i just have to live with it?

Hi Andy,

I have had the same problem, but if I was catching Wahoo like the one in your Avatar I wouldn't be in the cabin anyhow.

Sounds like you are leaving the water just enough to loose your siphon or suction and getting an air pocket. Then the next bit of water through finds it way around the air but allows the unit to over heat. The only way I know to cure it is to move the inlet toward the transom, but the work and cost might not be worth it. Just know that when you leave the water you need to shut down the AC and do a restart.

If you find a better solution I would like to learn it also.

check how high your pump is over the water pickup.these pumps dont pick up water well it could be as simple as mounting your pump lower then the strainer.which is not always possible
