If it transmits 406 MHz, it should still be usable. I'm not sure what "class B" means, is that like a category II, meaning it must be manually activated? Look to see if it's a 406 MHz, if it is, I would have it serviced, put a new battery in if it hasn't had one since '98, and make sure it's registered with NOAA.
