Mercury Decals
I just redid a set of decals for a customer's outboards -- 2002 Optimax Saltwater 150's. He sent me a pic, and I've never seen anything like this before. The factory "150" and "Mercury" just curled up and peeled right off the cowling. He said there are other Mercury owners he knows with the same problem.
Anybody else know about this? This is the first I had heard of this problem... |

Charlie, I can see the early signs of this happening to my moters. They are 1998 200hp optimaxes.

Here's a pic of a pic the guy sent me. Pretty ugly. Danny -- is yours beginning to look like this?

Not that bad yet Charlie. The edges are starting the lift but only a 1/8" or so around the letters.

Charlie, my cousins is that bad if not worse. He just ordered new decals...I told him to just leave the engine black - it looks cooler that way.

twin 2003, 150 opti's. both peeled, warranty would've covered replacements. Figured new decals would do the same so I decided to not replace, removed all. I like them without.

Charlie, mine look that same way. Lot of heat in the sun with that black cover...
