You know Ive been reading what was said on this subject and I have to disagree with the fact Mercury is doing the "right thing" on this matter. Why do I say this?Because all I keep hearing and reading is the fact that yes they did know there was a problem with these motors and also I see alot of the members here have alot to bitch about mercury motors.Admin was not happy with these motors for a long time now and are you really that niave to think that they never read his posts. Now all of a sudden someone dropped a dime when this thread was made and faster than a Verado, Mercury comes a calling!!!!Give me a break!!!!I bet they knew about this problem with these engines alot longer than they lead us to believe. Now I give the Admin alot of respect because if that was me I would be very angry to say the least witch leads me to point number 2.If that was me or 90% of the members on this very board do you really think Mercury would stand behind there product if it was Joe Smoe who says that he has had nothing but problems with this product???I dont think so!!!!I have seen and read alot of the members posts about Boats,Engines, rods, reels, and even sunglasses getting reviewed on this site and out of all those bitches I have only seen maybe 2 or 3 Companies stand by there product. Now that being said If it were you or me NOT the Admin with over twenty thousand members reading his thread I know what I would expect!!!If the phone dont ring I know its Mercury!!!!!!

hot damn.

As for Mercury showing favoritism to the Admin.....I don't know. Seems to me he got frustrated by a series of unrelated problems, a batch of bad float switches and then an electrical issue, and the top people at Mercury were made aware of it just a few days ago. And anyone with a product problem can reach the exact same 20,000 boaters that John did...just by posting and following up.

I don't know if Merc in Wisconsin already knew about it. I, for one, wrote an email to their marketing people at Brunswick, who forwarded it,with the link, to the Verado people in Wisconsin. I think that's when they started reading the thread and something like 48 hours later they were on it. I figure some of you other guys probably wrote them about it, too. That's not really a bad response time.
